Every idea starts with a problem. Ours came in 2016 as graduate students visiting a factory in Asia.

At this factory we saw cramped female workers, earning $7 a day, gluing and sewing designer footwear. One pair of shoes, which the brand claimed to produce only in Italy, cost under $25 to make. It sold for over $400 just down the road.

It turns out a handful of companies control over 75% of the high-end fashion industry, allowing them to keep prices artificially high while taking huge profits from consumers.

We knew there had to be a better way, and started Oliver Cabell with the lofty goal of creating an honest alternative with a simple approach. To offer handcrafted sneakers using old school shoemaking and the finest materials, and then reveal it all, from factories to costs.

Ditch Designer Footwear

We started with a white leather sneaker because as anyone will tell you, a good pair of white sneakers is essential. From work to play, it’s the pair you'll wear every day.

You either save some cash and buy poorly constructed low-quality sneakers that are affordable, or highly-quality, well-designed sneakers that cost $400. Well, those options suck. So we did something about it.
