THE PROBLEM

The reality: 300 million tons of plastic is produced every year, with only 9% of it ever being recycled.

The hard truth: once plastic is made, it stays on the planet forever. The plastic problem is huge, but so is the positive impact we can make.

THE SOLUTION

We set out with the goal of turning recycled plastic into a light and breezy sneaker.

Here's how it works: recycled plastic water bottles are received, washed, and shredded into small flakes. Those flakes are then melted down, cooled, and pressed through a die, forming long strands of yarn. The yarn is further refined and spun through a 3D printing machine, forming the upper of the shoe.
